CHALK is an award-winning, market-leading, independent venue in Central Brighton, opposite the iconic Brighton Pier. We host both club nights and live music gigs throughout the year and have a strong ethos which defines and promotes our brand.
Our diverse club night roster includes Fat Poppadaddys, Polyglamorous, Secret Discotheque, and Let’s Kill Disco. Artists who have performed at Chalk in the last year include Bicep, Yungblud, Tom Jones, Little Simz, Bastille, Arlo Parks and many more.
CHALK is looking for a Deputy Manager to oversee the general operations, improve the sales performance of the venue and manage and delegate to the team.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year of assistant general manager experience or deputy experience in a busy, fast-paced venue. They will have knowledge of how to safely operate a venue and how to manage a successful relationship with the relevant authorities.
They will be able to help lead a team of staff, and be able to enthuse, retain and incentivise those staff to reach both financial goals and customer service aims. We require the successful candidate to be a personal license holder and have a strong knowledge of legal & licensing requirements.

The role requires, but is not limited to:

  • Ensuring that the image and ethos of the venue is maintained.
  • Superb customer & floor service skills.
  • Operational management of the venue in the absence of the GM.
  • Assisting the GM in the day-to-day running of the venue.
  • Ability to take instructions and delegate to a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fulfilling all admin roles.
  • Driving sales within the venue through offers and incentives.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Good understanding of financials, reports, banking and admin.
