CHALK is an award winning, market leading, independent venue in Central Brighton opposite the iconic Brighton Pier. We host both club nights and live music gigs throughout the year and have a strong ethos which defines and promotes our brand.
Our diverse club night roster includes Fat Poppadaddys, Secret Discotheque, Bad Decisions and Let’s Kill Disco; Artists to have performed at Chalk in the last year include Bicep, Yungblud, Tom Jones, Little Simz, Bastille, Arlo Parks and many more.
CHALK is looking for a Technical Manager and Sound Engineer to oversee the technical operations of the venue, including the production of our lighting and sound, as well as the management of our technical team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years experience in a similar environment. They will have solid technical knowledge, experience of event production and a willingness to get stuck in.

Requirements:
- Management and communication skills.
- Excellent time keeping.
- Enthusiasm and interest in the technical side of music venues and nightclubs.
- Experience in Avolites.
- Experience in lighting installation and maintenance.
- Good, general technical knowledge, practical skills and abilities.
- A willingness to learn new skills.
The role includes, but is not limited to:
- Managing a roster of in-house and contracted technical staff to assist in the venue operations.
- Communicating and interacting with touring bands.
- Assisting touring engineers with their production.
- Producing the sound for bands without their own sound engineer.
- Computer networking.
- Administering, monitoring and maintaining the tech scheduling.
- Maintaining technical equipment.
- Logging safety inspections of all technical equipment.
- Ensuring that the sound system is always working at its optimum.
- Basic venue maintenance.
